Solutions / Boats
The mounting carries over. The service does not.
Customers fit our brackets to boats and the principle holds. But marine service is not campervan service, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. This page exists so you can decide with the facts rather than find out later.

What we will not claim
- Our brackets have not been salt-spray tested. We therefore do not describe them as marine-grade, and you should treat any supplier who uses that phrase without a test report the same way.
- Mixed metals in salt air corrode. Fastener material and the contact between dissimilar metals matter in a way they never do on a road vehicle. This is a design question for your installation, not a product feature.
- Marine electrical installations have their own standards, and they are stricter than anything that applies to an RV. Depending on your flag state and whether the vessel is commercial, compliance may not be optional.
Where our products do suit a boat
- Flexible panels on a curved coachroof or bimini. This is genuinely what flexible laminates are for — they follow compound curves that would need a frame otherwise, and at 4.5 kg for a 200 W panel the weight is not an issue up high, where weight matters most.
- Bonded mounting on a deck you will not drill. Same argument as a van roof, with more force: a penetration through a deck is a leak into the accommodation.
- Folding panels for boats without deck space. A folding panel can be deployed at anchor and stowed under way — no permanent installation at all.
- MPPT rather than PWM. Marine batteries are often lithium now, and our MPPT range is lithium-compatible where our PWM range is not.
What we would ask you before quoting
- Is the installation on a surface you are willing to bond to, or does it need a rail or arch mount? We would rather point you at the right hardware than sell you the wrong one.
- Is the vessel used commercially or coded? That changes what compliance evidence you need from us.
- What is the battery chemistry and its charge acceptance? This decides the controller, and it is the single most common mismatch we see.
Our position, plainly
Boats are a secondary market for us — our brackets are designed and tooled for vehicle roofs. We are happy to supply panels, controllers, batteries and cabling for a marine installation, and we will tell you honestly which parts we consider suitable and which we do not. What we will not do is relabel an RV product as marine and let the salt sort it out.
Tell us the vessel, the mounting surface and your daily consumption, and say in the enquiry that it is a marine installation so we specify it accordingly. Request a quotation →
We would rather lose the order than oversell the part
Our bracket sets have not been salt-spray tested, so we do not call them marine-grade. Tell us the vessel and the mounting surface and we will say plainly whether it suits.
