Description
A 250 W continuous (300 W peak) modified sine wave inverter — the cheap, honest option for resistive loads only. Modified sine wave is a stepped approximation of mains, not a clean sine. For a filament lamp, a soldering iron or a simple charger it is indistinguishable. For anything with a motor, a transformer or sensitive electronics it runs hotter, buzzes, and in some cases will not run at all. We are telling you this on the product page because the returns come from people who were not told.
| Model | TE-IV250-MS220 — 220 V output TE-IV250-MS110 — 110 V output (North America) |
| Waveform | Modified sine wave |
| Output power | 250 W continuous, 300 W peak. Our model number carries the continuous rating, not the peak. Peak-named model numbers are common in this category, so compare continuous figures rather than model names. Size your load against the 250 W figure; tell us the load and we will confirm in writing before you order. |
| Output voltage | 220 V AC or 110 V AC — tell us which when you enquire. The 110 V build is for North America; the 220 V build for markets on that standard. Each has its own order code (see Model above). The 110 V build is made to order rather than held in stock — Minimum order is 100 units and the factory quotes a 20-day lead time; tell us your quantity and we will confirm both in writing before you commit. |
| Output frequency | 50 Hz |
| Input voltage | 12 V DC |
| Dimensions | 160 × 97.5 × 55 mm |
| Weight | 600 g |
Key points
- Fine for: incandescent lighting, heating elements, simple battery chargers, power tools with universal motors.
- Not for: compressor fridges, microwaves, induction, CPAP machines, laptops with sensitive supplies, anything with a mains transformer or a variable-speed motor. Specify a pure sine wave model instead.
- 250 W continuous, 300 W peak. Check the appliance’s start-up draw, not its running draw — motors can pull several times their rated current for the first second.
- Low cost per unit, which is the entire point of this model in a range.
Ask us and we will send the factory’s data sheet for this model — the figures above are taken from it. Request the specifications.
Specification and socket standard
Output socket standard is a build option — tell us the destination market (Schuko for most of continental Europe, BS 1363 for the UK, and so on) and we will confirm what the factory can supply before you order. Request the specification.
Certification: CE marked. The certificate is held by the manufacturing factory, not by Topenergy — the certificate number is available on request, and we will name the factory. See certifications.
Best for
Price-led SKUs and simple loads. If the customer’s list includes a fridge or a laptop, sell them the pure sine wave model instead.
Price on request. Send us the quantity and destination country and we will quote — request a quotation.
