Description

The full-time kit — two 200 W ETFE panels, a 60 A MPPT controller, two sets of aluminium brackets and 10 m of cable. Four hundred watts is what full-time living off hookup actually takes: a compressor fridge running continuously, an inverter in daily use, and enough surplus to recover the bank after two dull days. The 60 A controller is deliberately oversized for 400 W at 12 V — it leaves room to add a third panel, or to run the system at 24 V, without replacing the controller.

Key points

  • Two panels, one controller. Wire them in series on a clear roof or in parallel where shading is likely — the reasoning is on our series vs parallel page, and we will specify it for you on enquiry.
  • 60 A MPPT with headroom. 400 W at 12 V draws roughly 33 A, so the controller is not working at its limit and there is room to expand.
  • Two bracket sets, one per panel, in aluminium.
  • Built for full-time use, not for a fortnight a year — this is the configuration we quote to converters building vehicles people live in.
  • Lithium-ready and sized to pair with a 200 Ah bank.

Options

  • 200 Ah LiFePO4 battery (TE-BT200-LFP) — not included in the base kit.
  • 2000 W pure sine wave inverter (TE-IV2000-PS220 for 220 V, TE-IV2000-PS110 for 110 V) — not included in the base kit. Needed if the customer wants to run an induction hob, a microwave or power tools.
  • Installation accessory pack (TE-AK-001) — worth adding on a two-panel install.

Sizing the battery to it

Four hundred watts of panel into a 100 Ah bank is unbalanced — on a good day the array will fill the battery by lunchtime and the rest of the day is wasted. Pair it with 200 Ah of LiFePO4 and the numbers work. If the customer is set on a smaller bank, the 200 W kit is the honest recommendation and we would rather tell you now.

Best for

Converters and dealers building or supplying vehicles for full-time and long-season use, and anyone specifying an inverter that will actually be used.
